Maria Alejandra Barros is a fashion designer and artist whose work explores femininity, craftsmanship, and the expressive power of design.
She began her design journey at Design and Architecture Senior High in Miami, where she focused on fashion design and first presented her work in curated runway shows. She continued her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, earning a scholarship in recognition of her portfolio and artistic excellence. During her time at FIT, she expanded her global perspective through an exchange program at Polimoda in Florence, Italy, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, specializing in Special Occasion, with a minor in Art History. She was consistently recognized on the Dean’s List for her academic achievements.
Over the past several years, Barros has developed a distinct creative voice through her work in fashion and art, combining technical precision with a strong sense of femininity and visual storytelling. Her designs are driven by detail, materiality, and an appreciation for couture inspired craftsmanship.
Barros is the founder of MAB Atelier, a design studio that merges fashion illustration, fine art, and collectible design. Her work ranges from couture inspired illustrations to limited edition pieces, reflecting her passion for elegance, emotion, and expressive design.
